There is no doubt that Eveline Syme, from her experiences studying Classics at Cambridge University between 1907-10, had a keen interest and appreciation for classical architecture which is reflected in many of her works detailing her adventures through Italy including this lovely linocut depciting The Duomo Steps. This is one of a key series of six linocuts which depict the Tuscan medieval town of Siena which Syme visited in 1929.
